Chinese Five Spice Almond Cookies

Units Scale
  • 1 pouch of sugar cookie mix
  • 2 teaspoons Chinese five spice
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 3 tablespoons turbinado sugar


  1. Heat oven to 350°F.  Line 2 large cookie sheets with silicone mat or parchment paper; set aside in a cool area.
  2. In large bowl, stir cookie mix and five spice until blended.
  3. Stir in fat and egg until soft dough forms.  Stir in almonds.
  4. Roll dough into 36 (1-inch) balls.  Dip one side of each ball into coarse sugar about halfway in.
  5. Place on cookie sheet, sugar-side-up, 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges begin to brown.  Cool for 2 minutes and transfer the cookies to a cooling rack to further cool.  ENJOY!
