- 5 oz. (1/2 bag) marshmallows
- Gel food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, microwave marshmallows on HIGH setting for 30 seconds, stir. Continue to microwave for additional 15 seconds at a time stirring after each interval until all marshmallows have melted. Note: should take no more than 1 minute of microwave time.
- Apply gel food coloring of choice and stir until no white streak are present. Allow melted marshmallows to cool to room temp before handling with skin.
- Once cooled, use the dominant fingertips of each hand to pinch a small amount and stretch the melted marshmallows across the frosted cake. Note: this process is very sticky and may be messy. Repeat until you are satisfied with the cake’s appearance.
Notes
Depending on the cake, frosting and heat conditions, the marshmallow “web” can stay out in room temperature unaltered for up to 4 days. After 4 days, the marshmallow may slightly wilt.
