Tuna Avocado Sandwich: Give Your Classic Tuna Sandwich a Simple Twist by Adding Seasoned Avocado Slices and Veggies for a Deliciously Healthy Meal!

New Year, New You! What are you doing differently for yourself in the new year?
We all hear it… dieting and going back to the gym. No matter how pumped you may feel with the idea that you’ll be able to eat clean by eliminating sugar, carbs, high fats, etc., its absence will haunt your mind. I know, because I’ve been there. I am one of those whose weight tends to yo-yo about +/- 10 to 20 pounds over the years. However, since the start of this blog it has instead gradually increased and NOW I’m making a change.
I am happy to say that for the past month, I have been more conscious of what I eat by stopping at the moment I feel full, decreasing the amount of soft drinks, and live by my 3-Bite Rule which is for anything sweet, take 3 bites and pass it along. In addition, I’ve been getting back into my strength training routine and am proud to say that I have dropped a pant size within the past month! I know it’s small but it’s a huge accomplishment for myself since my waistline has increased 4 pant sizes within the past 2 years.
Although I started in December (before the new year), you can make a lifestyle change ANY time of the year. So what better time to start than now, with me?!

Oh and don’t worry, I will continue to post the sweets too. I’m a firm believer that you can have anything within moderation. Of course keep in mind, moderation varies for someone who’s very active versus someone who lives a sedentary lifestyle.
To start, I want to bring you one of my favorite lunches, the classic tuna sandwich. Only this time, I’ve added seasoned avocado slices and veggies; additions I would have never tolerated as a kid. Being that I was once a picky eater, my mother would make a simple tuna sandwich on white bread using Bumble Bee® Solid White Albacore in water about 2-3 times a week. It was one of the few satisfying meals I ate as a child which led my mother’s pantry to always be stocked with this white labeled-red lettered can of tuna. Thus, it has now become the only brand I trust and use when making any tuna salads, sandwiches and casseroles, even till today.

Now that I’m much older, I can appreciate a deliciously easy, healthy, tuna lunch that can provide a variety of nutrients into my diet including lean protein, healthy fat, and important vitamins and minerals. Best part is, Bumble Bee® products comes in a variety of flavors and are also available in a pouch so you can easily slip it into your bag and prepare your meal outside the home. No need to carry that can opener anymore!
